Given the recent successes and retail launch of MekaMon (A robotics AR gaming platform) with Apple, we are expanding our team and are looking for a Mechanical Engineer (Production & CPD) to join us.

Friday afternoons are dedicated to stepping away from the desk to game and work on projects outside our normal scope. We operate on flexitime between 8am - 6pm and have regular social events planned throughout the year. About the role

Reporting to the COO you will be responsible for the engineering of the Mechanical aspects of the MekaMon products and accessories, for mass production and beyond. The role will involve providing manufacturability input into the product specification, and then driving forward the design through to mass production.

Once in mass production the product enters a continuous product development (CPD) phase, where you become responsible for improving the reliability, and optimising the cost of the Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical aspects of the product.

You will be very hands on but also dealing with both internal and external (supplier) teams in the UK and China.

  • Mechanical engineering MekaMon products and accessories
  • Improving reliability of the product
  • Optimising the cost of the mechanical and electro-mechanical aspects of the product

What we are looking for

  • An Engineering Degree – Mechanical or Manufacturing degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience of engineering similar complex consumer products for mass production
  • Experience of small scale gearbox design
  • Experience of DFM for plastic parts
  • Experience of working in a CPD (continuous product development) or VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering)
  • Experience of product development processes, within a consumer electronics or toy environment.
  • Experience of Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) processes
  • Experience of hardware manufacturing in China.
  • Perseverance and a strong drive to ensure product quality and cost targets are met.

Desirable

  • Injection Mold tool design knowledge
  • Spoken Mandarin would be an advantage
